Workshops
Guided Journaling
Story Mixers for Groups
For eight years I've facilitated a six week workshop for experienced writers in all genres. Be it memoir, fiction, essay or poetry, each writer submits their best work 2-3 times prior to class, so we can read in advance and bring our full attention to each other's work.
This class is modeled after a traditional MFA workshop. We offer an honest and thorough critique of the craft elements employed and the work as a whole.
This is a challenging workshop for writers wanting to take their work to the next level and potentially publish. And we do have some fun along the way.

Workshop can be tailored--from one-day workshops to 8 week courses.
Are you part of a team that could use inspiration and connection at a deeper level? Do you have a group of like-minded friends or colleagues looking to have fun with innovative writing and journaling techniques? Has writing always appealed to you but you haven't found the time?
As a group creative writing facilitator, I tailor writing workshops to fit your time, place, and desired outcomes. Story Mixers can be a single session or series or part of retreat. They are low-pressure and are meant to stir up fresh ideas for self-discovery, insight, collaboration...and possibly spark more writing in one's life.
Advanced Writers' Workshop

Enjoy and master journaling techniques for expression, creativity, and personal growth. By looking at your past and forecasting your future, you can take action on your journal insights to improve your relationship with yourself and your connection to others and to our world.

Kathleen Adams' Journal to the Self process promotes “neuroplasticity” or change in your brain. Through varied prompts and guided meditations that lead you into the subconscious—you will write and reflect on your work and the writing process.
What Clients are Saying
Ready to generate new work and take a fresh look at your current projects? With guided journaling techniques you will dip into your subconscious to discover stories, fictional and real, that you are meant to share...or even publish!
For the first two weeks, I will ask you to press pause on the stress and distractions in your life. After two hours of active journaling you will emerge focused, energized, and inspired. With learned techniques for reflection, you will unearth themes, subjects, images--new insights that need to be turned into pages.

Journal to the Self
We will add in a traditional workshop component to the final three weeks in class. You will submit short pieces for discussion in class with feedback from me and your peers. Stay productive & renew you passion to write.
Janine's most valuable strengths include her ability to perceive and communicate deep and important themes, patterns, and meaning in my writing, and provide frank and extremely insightful feedback while always motivating and encouraging. I am challenged, stimulated and informed through every interaction with her - what more could one ask for in a teacher?

Janine's extensive knowledge of the craft of writing made my words as clear as possible. Not only did I appreciate her skill and wisdom, but also her warmth and understanding of this topic which I am so passionate about. Janine really moved me.
